Western Nebraska Community College Science Lab Remodel

Project Details:

Location

Scottsbluff, Nebraska

The remodel of WNCC’s Science wing was a complete demo and remodel of four science labs, a classroom, and an open student study and common space area. The renovation introduced new learning styles and state-of-the-art technology to the college, while bringing the space up to current code compliance and maintaining the function and aesthetics that are so important to educational spaces today. Working closely with professors and executives from WNCC, we were able to meet their needs for updating their facility both technologically and aesthetically to offer a dynamic learning environment for its students. Two biology rooms and a chemistry lab were completed, as well as WNCC’s first ‘Active Learning’ Classroom, which integrates a raised flooring system and an ‘in the round’ teaching style for a new type of learning experience. The biology and chemistry labs required extensive coordination with regards to individual student workstations equipped with specialized gas, venting, and electrical needs- all coming together to create a successful specialized learning environment for Western Nebraska Community College’s Science Department.
